Welcome!  Are you seeking a therapist that is experienced, compassionate, and easy to relate to?  If so, you have come to the right place.  Troy and Vicki Vander Zwart are Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists who provide individual, couples, and family therapy.

We are skilled and experienced therapists with a mission to help people heal and move toward a more fulfilling and peaceful life with the use of cognitive, behavioral, affective, and systemic intervention strategies.

Whether you are struggling with a particular issue, or just can't shake the feeling that there should be more to life, we can help.  We provide a caring environment in which you can identify and explore those deeply ingrained issues that may be getting in the way of a stable home life, a rewarding career, or fulfilling relationships.  The goal is to provide you with the insights and tools you need to move beyond old, limiting behaviors.

Troy and Vicki believe that a willingness to change and face the hardships in your life will lead toward personal growth and maturity.  They strive to create a compassionate, safe, non-judgmental place to express your deepest thoughts and feelings, explore options to resolve the problems you are facing, and support and encourage you as you face them.

When to seek therapy with us:

  • If you have experienced a traumatic event and are having symptoms such as nightmares, intrusive/recurrent/unwanted thoughts of the event, hypervigilence, or agitation.  We have extensive experience with trauma focused therapy and have been trained in evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure Therapy for PTSD.  We work with active duty military and their families as well as veterans.  We can help you process combat related trauma or military sexual trauma.
  • If you are experiencing depression, anxiety, worry, anger, fears, hopelessness or other emotional symptoms that are interfering with your ability to function at your best.
  • If you are having relationship issues involving communication, intimacy, arguing or withdrawal from your partner.
  • If you are feeling stressed and overwhelmed by the obligations of life and can't seem to find a balance.  Counseling can help you prioritize and problem solve so that stress does not overwhelm you.
  • If you are experiencing a major change such as divorce, death of a loved one, or job loss - or even positive change such as marriage, having a baby, and getting a promotion.
  • If you abuse drugs and alcohol and have suffered some legal, financial, health, work, or relationship consequences as a result of your drug or alcohol use.  Perhaps others are beginning to express concern about your use.  Perhaps you have tried to cut down or stop using but find that you are unable to stop on your own.
  • If you would like to achieve personal growth.  Therapy can help you grow emotionally and relationally so that you can excel and meet your personal goals.  Counseling can be beneficial to anyone as a means to gaining deeper insight into yourself and others.  This gives you an opportunity to thrive and live life to the fullest.

The most common reasons people seek counseling with us:

  • Emotional Distress such as anxiety or depression
  • Trauma and PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
  • Couples Counseling
  • Christian Counseling
  • Grief Counseling
  • Military Lifestyle Issues
  • Stress Management
  • Addiction & Recovery
  • Coping with Divorce
  • Relationship issues with spouse, children, and extended family
  • Anger Management

Any of these problems can seem overwhelming but you do not have to go through them on your own.  In times of trouble, you may not be able to clearly see solutions to these problems because of your own stress level, emotional pain, and confusion over what is best. Individual, couples, or family therapy will give you an opportunity to identify and process all of your options for solving the problems you face.  Please give us a call today to schedule a counseling appointment.
